Hello from X2D Horses and Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Please check the site soon, we are updating many of the baby pics and new horse information! We had a great year for selling great colts...we hope to stay posted on their progress. We also were able to take some great shots of our stud, Espuela Tonto (Blue Light Ike/Driftwood bred) up at the creek...watch for those on the stud page!
X2D Horses will also be sporting a few POAs again! Doreen grew up showing Colorado POA club, and has a special place in her heart for these superb youth mounts. They have great minds, flashy color, plenty of AQHA blood these days, and are excellent confidence builders for youth. POA stands for "Pony of the Americas"... people often mistake any pony with color as "POA"... including paints, pintos, small Appaloosas...but a POA is a separate breed, maximum height of 14 hands, with all approved appy characteristics. Anything else isn't "POA" actually. :) Soon, you will be able to see our new gelding for the girls, and a couple of weanlings Dave bought Doreen from a premier breeder in South Dakota. The little buckskin stud is... you guessed it... also Pitzer bred (Two Eyed Jack)... but with SPOTS! :)
Other news. We are giving less lessons and concentrating more on the girls as they are old enough to travel and show a little bit now. Therefore, we are thinning out the "golden oldie" herd. The 27 year old mare Breeze recently went to a fabulous new home, where she is back running barrels lightly and is PULLING CHECKS for her new owner! They are THRILLED! Never let age scare you when a good horse is a good horse; they can teach you more in a year or two than you can imagine!
We have a 28 year old mare, Dina, that we would GIVE to a GREAT home. This mare is a retired cutter and BROKE, BROKE, BROKE. GREAT shape for her age, sound, and would make an AWESOME 4H mare for a kid who's a good hand. If you want more info, see her photo and pedigree at our Web site under performance horses. Dina has plenty left to give a great home. No special maintenance, just joint supplements and plenty of feed!
Also offering a SUPERB junior rodeo horse. He is only 24, but shows more age than the mare does. :) He is long, so is showing some sway and will as he ages. However, he is sound and good to go, just needs lots of feed and fat supplement as he's a hard keeper. I use Canola oil on corn sweet feed and plenty of grass hay/pasture. This gelding has plenty of zap but will walk a gate, run a beautiful pattern, then walk back out. Very, very safe...more bark than bite. :) Runs all playday events and also is a nice head horse. Has a big motor, rides outside too, but not for tiny beginner right away. Better for a little older kid, or adult, who needs a confidence builder. Due to a past problem with ulcers, I also keep him on Gastro Essentials (John Ewing) and before I haul him I give him a little Gastro or Ulcer Guard for a couple days before. Easy maintenance for a good junior rodeo horse. Due to age/economy only, I'm asking $1000 firm for him and he will pull you a check. He's a big
long horse, but wraps a beautiful barrel. See Doc on our Web site, under performance horses.
Please e-mail us with any further questions and have a great Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!
